Background
Randolph
Pierce, owner and operator of Taos Video Works, has been shooting
video since 1987. A longtime kayaker and raft guide, he was
first handed a video camera before a trip on the pounding Gauley
River in West Virginia with the instructions: “put this
in your kayak and shoot video of the rafts as they come through
the rapids”. Intrigued by this work, he soon had his own
video and still photography company (Wildside Images) and was
shooting down class 5 rivers around the world capturing kayaks
and rafts running breathtaking rivers.
In
1993 he decided to learn more about his craft and attended Bellevue
Community College near Seattle, Washington. After earning an
Associate Degree (with Honors) in Media Communication and Technology
in 1995, he worked as a cameraman, grip and/or audio tech for
local Seattle television stations and companies such as Microsoft,
National Mobile Television, NBC, CBS, ESPN, Comedy Central,
MTV and others. In 1999 he moved back to the Rocky Mountains
with his wife and son to settle in Taos, New Mexico and start
another video production company, Taos Video Works.
In
Taos, Randolph has done freelance camera work for companies
from California, Utah, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Indiana,
Montana and Kansas. He has also created programs for local clients
including the Town of Taos (Telly Award), Holy Cross Hospital
Foundation (2 Telly Awards), Taos Ski Valley, The University
of New Mexico – Taos (Aurora Award), The Taos Art Museum,
Golden Willow Retreat, Mountain Home Health (Videographer Award),
The Community Wellness Center, UNM-Taos Literacy Center, and
the Taos Training Alliance (Telly Award).
Randolph’s
work in Taos also includes wedding videography, transferring
and editing home movies, music videos, video for websites, and
DVD authoring and duplication.
On
bigger projects, he teams up with other local producers and
cameramen such as Bill Knief (Grassroots Video), James Cederlof
(Tymely Productions), and Vali Valus (Charisma Communications).
In
all projects, Taos Video Works strives to complete projects
on time and in budget, and to exceed clients’ expectations. |
